Blue Tuesday

Just watched 'Easter Parade'. The 1948 musical has been sitting on my shelf for over a year, unwatched, waiting for an Easter viewing. Today, the words 'Happiest musical ever made' finally persuaded me to give it a whirl, and I'm glad I did. It warms the cockles of your heart, it does. Judy Garland is stunning in it, she and Fred Astaire can't help but brighten your day with some classy scenes. Don (Astaire), is a guy who is down on his luck after losing his dancing partner Nadine (Miller) to a different show. He picks up Hannah (Garland), a singer at a local bar and teaches her her left foot from her right. Unbelievably, it's actually only the second Judy film I've seen, after The Wizard of Oz. She is a full grown woman in this production and she really has a face of an angel. And so much character, you can't help but love her. You should try watch it if you can, the costumes are wonderful and the hair is even better!

It also introduced me to another star. Here is co-star Ann Miller (Nadine) in one of the best numbers in the film.

I really do wish I was in the time of hats & spats.
